Abstract

The internet has become a basic need of the current age group. Nowadays, a large part of the world’s population uses the internet regularly. Moreover, more and more people are becoming addicted to social media (SM) every day. The younger generation now uses social media as a playground. Playing games, watching films, and establishing internet relationships take up the majority of their time. Students often suffer from mood swings due to SM. Many students frequently attempt to publish lovely pictures of themselves and their age group since they are self-conscious about their look. This study investigated how social media affects teenagers in the city of Chennai. The study was based on primary information collected through Google Forms from various school and college students in 2025. The study exposed that at the present time both male and female students are addicted to SM, and most of the students use SM platforms, 34% on Instagram. Therefore, the results suggest that students spent a maximum of 2 to 3 hours per day on SM groups.
