The rapid development of information and communication technology has transformed social interaction patterns, including students’ communication in educational and digital environments. Although social media provides opportunities for literacy development and knowledge access, it also creates challenges such as hate speech, cyberbullying, misinformation, and unethical language practices. These conditions indicate that language learning has largely focused on linguistic competence while giving limited attention to character formation and moral development. This article aims to reconstruct character education based on language ethics from the perspective of Islamic education through a qualitative library research approach. Data were obtained from the Qur’an, Hadith, scholarly works, and relevant academic literature on character education, communication ethics, and Islamic education. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis through identification, classification, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. The findings reveal that Islamic language ethics serves as a strategic foundation for character formation through Qur’anic communication principles: qaulan sadīdan (truthful speech), qaulan ma‘rūfan (kind speech), qaulan balīghan (effective speech), qaulan layyinan (gentle speech), qaulan karīman (respectful speech), and qaulan maysūran (accessible speech). This study proposes an Islamic Language Ethics-Based Character Education Model integrating tauhid, akhlaq, digital literacy, school culture, teacher exemplarity, and communication habituation to strengthen students’ character in the digital era.
