Abstract

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) encompasses India’s ancient traditions, philosophies, and practices, emphasizing holistic development, self-realization, and the interconnectedness of the individual with the cosmos. Sahaja Yoga Meditation (SYM), a contemporary spiritual practice, resonates strongly with several core tenets of IKS, particularly in its focus on education and self-development. This study investigates the relationship between SYM and IKS, situating meditation as both a spiritual and educational tool. In addition, the paper reviews empirical evidence on the benefits of SYM, including its role in reducing academic stress among school children and enhancing self-esteem, resilience, and mental well-being among young adults. By synthesizing these insights, the study argues for the systematic integration of SYM into educational curricula as a means to promote emotional balance, cognitive focus, and holistic growth, thereby aligning modern educational practices with the timeless ideals of IKS.
